Lennis Morgan Rankin
Lennis Morgan “Bill” Rankin was born on 06 .Tun 1923 near Hughes Springs, Texas, youngest of eleven children of Robert Benjamin and Minerva Ann “Annie” Morgan Rankin, He married Audrey Wynona Cook on 06 Jan 1943 in Linden, Texas. Audrey was born on 15 Aug 1925 in Cass County’, daughter of John Robert “Bob” and Minnie Lee Humphrey Cook. Bin died on 01 Sep 1989 and was buried in the Shelton-Rankin Cemetery.
During his adult years, Bill farmed and raised cattle; was self-employed in the logging and lumber business; worked for Lone Star Steel for a short time; worked for Schlitz Brewery for an even shorter time; drove for Rose Track Lines for a few years; worked in law enforcement as Deputy Sheriff, Chief Deputy Sheriff, and Sheriff for fifteen years or more; and was self-employed in the dirt and gravel business for some time.
Bill and Audrey Rankin were the parents of four children:
1. Linda Dawn Rankin was born 10 Dec 1943 in the old Rankin home near Hughes Springs. She was delivered by Dr. Homer Jenkins, who was the same doctor who had delivered both parents. Bill and Audrey. Linda married Ronald Edwin “Eddie” Lindsay in Dallas on 29 Dec 1962. Eddie died in Dallas on 05 Feb 1995. Linda has a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from S.M.U. and is presently in Dallas. They had three children: (1) Ronald Edwin Lindsay, Jr. was born 18 Aug 1963 in Dallas. He married Sandra Lee Griffith in Austin and they have two children: Joseph Edwin Lindsay and Noah John Lindsay. They live near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (2) John Morgan Lindsay was born 03 Jul 1966 in Dallas. He married Shirley Marie Eggleston Baker on 05 Feb 2000. Shirley has two daughters, Amanda Christine Hardin, and April Michealle Baker. John and Shirley live in Atlanta, Cass County, Texas where he is self-employed in the mowing-landscaping business. (3) Daniel Cameron Lindsay was born 09 Apr 1973 in Dallas. He is single, lives and works in Dallas. All three boys graduated from high school in Dallas, Ronnie attended the University of Texas in Austin, and Daniel attended Richland College in Dallas.
2. Sammy Neil Rankin was born 23 Aug 1946 in Hughes Springs. Texas. He completed high school in Linden and attended college at Lamar Tech in Beaumont. He is married to Sheryl Rankin. works in construction business as project superintendent, lives in the Florida Keys. He has no children.
3. James Paul Rankin was born 24 Apr 1948 in Jefferson, Marion County, Texas. He is a retired Air Force veteran. Paul married Peggy Ann McCasland on 01 Nov 1969 in Atlanta and had two children: (1) James Paul Rankin, Jr. was born 15 Mar 1971 in Linden. James graduated from high school in Iceland, is married to Heather Anne Oney, and is enjoying a military career, stationed in Oregon. He has no children. (2) Craig Men Rankin was born 30 Dec 1972 at Wichita Falls, Texas. He married Julie Ann Wechtenhiser in Beaumont, Texas and they have two children: Devon Wayde Rankin was born 29 .Tun 1991. Dillon Lynn Rankin was born 03 Jan 1993. They live in the Beaumont area where Craig works in insurance sales.
James Paul and Peggy divorced. He is presently married to Cheryl Roxanne Council, and they live in North Carolina.
4. Barbara Jill Rankin was born 23 Mar 1959 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana. Jill graduated from high school in Atlanta and attended college in Texarkana. She married Kenneth Ray Daniel on 26 Mar 1977 in Atlanta, Texas. Kenneth was born 24 Mar 1956 in Shreveport Louisiana, son of Jesse Holland Daniel and Jean Hall Daniel. Jill and Kenneth own and operate Kiddie Kollege, an early childhood development and day care center, in Atlanta. Jill was accepted into the Methodist Conference in June 2000 and began her ministry on 15 Jun 2000 as pastor of the Jenkins UMC and Bradfield Chapel UMC in Morris County, Texas. They presently live in Daingerfield in the parsonage that serves these two churches. Jill and Kenneth have two children: (1) Stephanie Leann Daniel was born 12 Aug 1981 in Linden. She graduated from Atlanta High School, has attended Panola College in Carthage and Texarkana Community College. She is single, lives in Texarkana and is employed by Wadley Hospital. (2) Kathryn Rene’ “Katy” Daniel was born 10 Mar 1986 in Linden. She lives in Daingerfield with her parents and will be a sophomore in Daingerfield High School in the fall of 2001. Katy is a top student, excels in music.
