Laurent speaks at Lions Club meeting

On Thursday, Jan 23, the Linden Lions Club met for their weekly meeting at the County Seat Café. It was announced that the historic 1934 Linden Water Tower is finished. With a few spots still needing to be touched up and the ladder needing a coat of paint, the water tower is now lighting up the night sky in downtown Linden.

City Administrator Bob Swisher has asked the residents of Linden that if they see anyone around the water tower at odd hours to report it to the police as there have already been several incidences of vandalism.

Special guest speaker was Jennifer Laurent who is the Development Officer for Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, LA. The hospital, which was the first Shriners Hospital, was built in 1922.

Shriners Hospitals boast some of the world’s top physicians in orthopedic specialties, burn care, spinal cord injury, and cleft lip and palate. Providing the best of care to children in need, the hospital also offers a family-centered environment in which all services are provided in one place, including rooms that are not only comfortable for the children, but also to their parents.

Each week the Lions Club meets at noon at the County Seat Café in downtown Linden from noon to one and invite all to attend. There is a special guest speaker each week that discuss a variety of topics.
