Justice Center shines at Christmas

Cass County may have the most Christmasy Law Enforcement Center in the region. Its decorations in the hall of courtrooms are enough to give pleasure even if the verdict is guilty.

The county officer-holders “take Christmas pretty seriously here, at least ever since the county offices moved here,” says County Judge Travis Ransom. “I don’t think anyone out-Christmas’s us. We pull out all the stops.”

The Christmas decorations this year are result of nine county office holders and staff who responded to the call to make merry from about Thanksgiving to several weeks after the new year. The large tree in the middle is the county’s contribution. Then others follow.

Here’s the list of the other creators for this year’s decorations: -- Court Coordinator’s Office -- Treasurer’s Office -- Tax Office -- District Clerk -- Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 -- Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 -- Adult Probation Office -- District Attorney’s Office -- Janitorial Staff The justice system in Cass County also celebrates with Christmas trees on the lawn of the courthouse and a tall tree decorated on the inside.

Sharon Brown, Judge Ransom’s secretary, said she notes how come decorators go to elaborate measures, season after season, to decorate.

“And they change each year. I send out an email, and they do the rest.”

Here are pictures of most of the decorations on the inside.
