Journal-Sun introduces video

If you have been keeping up on the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun social media pages, you will have no ticed that the paper is beginning to post videos under the title of Journal Sun Media. A few months ago, the Journal Sun began to put together a studio with the intention of creating fresh content that will appear on our social media pages, and website. That became a reality about a week or so ago when we posted our first video.

“We are excited,” says Shawn Larson. “We believe the video will be a complement to what we are already doing at the paper. From an editorial perspective, we plan on using our videos to capture the video, pictures and sounds of our community, which we can’t necessarily do in the paper. That said we are treating our new media options as a synergetic approach to what we are already doing here. I can assure you though the paper isn’t going away anytime soon. Nothing is quite the same as picking up the smell and feel of a newspaper, getting lost in the historical pages of our community life. The approach though will be the same no matter what kind of media we participate in; provide an accurate, well-researched, trusted source of information.

“From an advertisers’ perspective, with video, our print media, and some of the other digital op tions we are offering, we should be able to provide a complete turnkey solution for a business wanting to have their business felt in nearly every form of media.”

Currently, we have three videos uploaded to both YouTube and Facebook. All the links can be referenced on our website: casscountynow.com/ media-links. Of the first three videos, Tim Emmons our sports reporter has interviewed Atlanta Track Coach Nate Miller, and Queen City Tennis Athlete Clare Wong. In the other, Shawn Larson interviewed Focus Care at Linden nursing home administrator Christine Donald.

Our goal is to publish at least two videos a week. The video content will typically be a video podcast interviewing various people in our area. However, we also plan to begin doing more Facebook live events, and community meetings in the near future. We hope that the community will also participate by sending their original videos to be considered for publication on our social media pages. Subjects like news, community events, clean humor, and human-interest stories can be submitted to media@casscountynow.com.

Moreover, if you have a story idea or would like to be interviewed, also contact our media department at the same email address media@casscountynow.com.
