It was released by the Cass County Sherriff ’s department that Cass County Detention officer Mark Thomas was arrested on March 23 on a felony warrant for allegedly bringing prohibited items into the Cass County Jail.
The investigation was conducted by the Texas Rangers, Cass County District Attorney’s Office, and the Cass County Sheriff ’s Office. Thomas was released on bond.
In a response to questions by the Journal-Sun, Sherriff Rowe said that Thomas had been working for the department for a little over a year. He was terminated immediately but can’t say much more since it is an open investigation.
Sherriff Rowe also could not elaborate on what was brought into the jail. Thomas has made a $10,000 security bond.
