IT’S ALL ABOUT... 2022 and ‘Friends’ Again

After another year of ungodly economic disasters, geo-political events and social craziness, it’s time to take a well-deserved peaceful break to check out the “Friends” of the Atlanta Public Library annual book sale.

But wait, first a couple of thoughts to ponder! Have you ever stepped foot into our incredible Atlanta Public Library? Do you even know that we have a public library? Do you know that we have a new remarkably knowledgeable head librarian with fun new ideas for all ages of the general public and new programs? Have you heard about the new reading project based on the monopoly game? If not, it may be time to make a stop at the library and check it out.

What absolutely amazes me is the time it must take to keep the library up to date on newly written and published books. But more amazing is how does the library decide what to get rid of when the new material comes in and what do you do with the multitude of purged books?

Well, of course, you call “The Friends of the Library” and they go to work setting up a huge massive book sale for the public to peruse and select anything and everything that one’s heart could possibly desire. And, the best kept secret is, take any books that you’d like to read or give away as a gift to loved ones, and make a donation as you go out the door. There is no cost to come in and browse and no limits on what you can take. Just make a donation to the Friends of the Library as you leave the sale. All donations go to the library and are utilized for everything needed, whether it’s for the kids or various functions during the year. Please stay tuned for coming attractions!

The sale is astonishing. Not only is there a huge volume of books for sale but you will find an excellent quality of reading materials. There are books signed by authors in the mix, large numbers of children’s books, large print and religious offerings, history like World War volumes, old books and current books. The chances are if you are looking for something in particular with just a little bit of digging you will probably find it. A truly fun treasure hunt of hard back and paperback books for all ages. The kids will have a ball sorting through fun reading material.

The sale starts April 12th through the 16th. (“Friends” are special and have first pick on April 11th). Daily hours are 10am – 6 pm with Saturday only 10am – 2pm. Where: Mattie Lanier Richey Center, Sportsplex Dr, 703 Holly Street, Atlanta, Texas.

Please plan to come and spend minutes or a couple of hours with us checking out the volumes of volumes! Don’t worry that the best will already be gone. We literally have thousands! Please come and give us a look and open your heart and wallet for the Atlanta Public Library and “Friends”. We can’t wait to see you and discover the best kept secret with tons of books. And, we’d love to have you become one of us, A FRIEND! (An annual $5 fee for a single member, $10 for family and $25 for a business.) Please come and visit!
