• Hughes Springs plant sale
The youngster Toby Buckner is having a hard time making up his mind which flower plant to buy during Hughes Springs’ Wildflower Flower Trails plant sale. He likes them all, his accompanying grandmother Amy Ingram said.

Hughes Springs plant sale

Each spring the Hughes Springs Chamber of Commerce adds color and fragrance to the Wildflower Trails Festival. The chamber does this by having a plant sale in Spring Park.

The sale is one of the chamber’s biggest community projects of the year. Some 70 plants are brought to the park for the one day showing.

Hopefully, none of the plants will be returned to the florist unsold, but even if they are, the nursery such as Freeman’s Nurseries will give the chamber credit for the return.

The chamber also sponsors several other events in the year to raise funds and support community causes. One is the Holiday on 1st Street each November. Then, the chamber sponsors a Home 4th of July celebration, a Trunk or Treat event in October and a Christmas in the Park gathering as well as the Christmas parade. Starting this year, the chamber plans to host a Fall Fest in October.

The chamber recognizes its outstanding citizens and supporters with an annual Crystal Globe awards evening. The chamber can be reached by calling 903-639-2351.
