The library hosts an on-going book sale for a suggested donation of $1.00 per hardback and $.25 for paperbacks. Brown Bag has returned. Look for notifications from Missie McCord. Contact the library at 903 639-1332 if you wish to receive notifications.

Grinch Movie Party at the library 1 pm on December 22. Join us for popcorn and cocoa

(For Adults) Page Turners book club meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 10:30.

Book Bites at 11:30am on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Next meeting will be Dec. 14th. New program to enjoy a free light meal and discuss any good book recently read. There will be no required reading.

Craft Time each 4th Tuesday at 1 pm. FREE but there is a donation jar. The next crafting session will be Dec.14th at 1pm.

Genealogy Club will not meet in December. Red Radiance Garden Club meets at 10:30 on the 3rd Thursday

Red Radiance Garden Club meets at 10:30 on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Contact the library for additional information. Only $10 per year to join this group.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) continues to meet each Monday at 9:30 for weigh-in and 10:00 for meeting. There is a small fee for this group.

CITY NEWS

The tree is up at City Hall! Come select a tag off the tree and help us make this a wonderful Holiday Season for a child or local Senior Citizen. Wrapped gifts, long with the tags, should be dropped off at City Hall no later than December 13th. Cash donations are also welcome!

The mammography van will return to the Hughes Springs Community Building on December 15th from 9am to3 pm. Schedule your appointment today by calling 903-315-2130, or 903-315-3797.

Chamber of Commerce News

Hughes Springs Chamber of Commerce thanks everyone who participated in Christmas Trees in the Park:

Members of Crossroads – Cornett Volunteer Fire

Department are instrumental in setting up the Christmas trees. Members of DECA, Hughes Springs Student Council and Robotics earned Service Hours helping put the lights on trees. A great big thank you goes out to First United Methodist Church and Tabitha Perry for organizing the crafts and games for the kids! We appreciate Gina Humphrey for hosting the event again this year. A special thanks goes out to the City of Hughes Springs for their support and the support they give the Chamber all year long.

We’d also like to thank everyone for their participation in Holiday on First Street and Cork & Fork. Special thanks go to members of Crossroads – Cornett Volunteer Fire Department for traffic control on First Street, The Legacy Event Center, and to the City of Hughes Springs for their support. It was a fun evening of shopping, wine, and food tasting.

The 2021 Christmas Parade is Saturday, December 11 @ 5:00 p.m. The theme this year is “Hughes-ville Springs”. Wouldn’t it be fun if everyone dressed up like the people of Whoville! Parade forms are available at City Hall.

Spotlight December 2021

The Chamber is putting the Spotlight on State Farm Insurance in December. State Farm has recently relocated from Daingerfield to 104 W 1st St Hughes Springs. Their hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. You can contact them at 903-310-0016.

LEGACY NEWS

CANVAS & COCKTAILS PAINT NIGHT-December 6th from 6-8 pm. Class is $25 (cash or check only), and includes all you need to complete a 16”x20” wrapped canvas. You are welcome to brings snacks and “light” alcohol (no hard liquor please). You must be age 21 or older to consume alcohol. You must call 903-639-1095 to sign up, (and to see if there are any openings), so we know how many to set up for.
