Hollanger explins solar energy

Don Hollanger is a University of Arkansas Hope/Texarkana instructor and longtime solar energy contractor who presented a solar energy demonstration to MUMS STEAM students on Thursday, Dec. 16. STEAM students have been studying both NASA’s and Elon Musk’s plans for viable colonization of Mars and have learned about solar energy powering the systems needed to keep humans alive and machinery functioning on the red planet.

Mr. Hollanger not only explained how solar energy works, but also the many and varied uses for it here and in space. He then demonstrated the use of two solar panels (even on a gray and rainy day) connected to a battery that powered a Christmas wreath. UAHT, who graciously offered to present the solar demonstration, is starting a program in Solar Energy Technology and was featured in the Texarkana Gazette.
