Genesis PrimeCare holds drive-thru COVID clinic

Employees of Genesis Prime-Care in Atlanta held a COVID vaccination drive-through clinic on March 4, at the Northeast Texas Properties building at the corner of Hwy. 77 and South Louise Streets.

According to Carla Roadcap, CEO of Genesis Primecare, they had about 200 scheduled for the day clinic. Providers at the clinic chose patients that were either over the age of 65 or otherwise health-compromised.

“We had enough in our allotment for both the Texarkana and Marshall clinics,” Roadcap said.

“Then we realized there weren’t any clinics scheduled for Cass County at that time, so we put aside 400 of the vaccine shots for this clinic.”

All of the people who received the vaccine that day can return to that location on April 3 for the second in the two-dose series. The maker of the vaccine they are using is Moderna.

Last year, entertainer Dolly Parton helped to fund the Moderna vaccine efforts through a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. On March 2, Parton visited the university to have her personal physician, Dr. Naji Abumrad, administer the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to her.

She had the moment filmed and took the opportunity to urge others to get their shot.

The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine is an unapproved vaccine that may prevent COVID-19. There is no FDA-approved vaccine to prevent COVID-19.

The FDA has authorized the emergency use of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in individuals 18 years of age and older under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
