The First Church of the Nazarene on Louise Street was transformed into a Pop-Up Library Saturday with celebrity readers on hand to entertain local kids. Atlanta Mayor Travis Ransom, Retired NFL Wide Receiver Phillip Epps, and Domino Mayor Moria White joined 1992 Atlanta graduate Melody Cranford to offer free books, backpacks and refreshments to attendees.

Cranford, a fifth-grade teacher in Muskogee, Oklahoma, has hosted many of the Pop-Up Libraries elsewhere, but this was the first one in her hometown. She has given away over 3000 books just in the past year, and has more events scheduled.

“I will be back in Atlanta with the free library, hopefully in early 2022,” said Cranford. “I look forward to seeing many more children next time.”
