Fraud alert program
Cass County officials have announced plans to implement a Property Fraud Alert program to protect citizens from the fastest growing white-collar crime, property and mortgage fraud, according to the FBI. Its important not to delay since this program will be offered free to the public and will alert subscribers to any filings in the County Clerk’s office that affect their properties, such as deed transfers.
The service will be provided by Fidlar Technologies and will notify subscribers via phone or email, allowing them the opportunity to investigate any potentially fraudulent activity. The program is aimed at protecting citizens’ investments in their properties and will be particularly beneficial to elderly citizens who may be more vulnerable to scams and fraudsters.
The property fraud alert contract is expected to be brought back to the Commissioner’s Court for approval after the start of the new budget year in October and the service is expected to be up and running by the first of the year.
