Flag retirement ceremony held with local scouts participating

The Mark Epperson Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 held an American Flag retirement ceremony at its April meeting.

During the event, Girl Scout Troop 2522 and Daisy Scout Troop 2522 led the Pledge to the United States Flag and demonstrated a perfect American Flag folding.

Chapter President Tammie Duncan Blackburn narrated the meaning of each of the 13 folds.

Worn American Flags ready for retirement may be placed in collection boxes in Linden City Hall and Linden Public Library.

Also, in honor of Girl Scout Troop 2522 and Daisy Scout Troop 2522 who assisted at Mark Epperson Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 meeting in April, the chapter donated a book to Linden Public Library’s children nonfiction section.

The book is entitled “Mr. Madison’s War, Causes and Effects of the War of 1812.”
