First American Legion community garage sale

The American Legion in Atlanta will be hosting a community garage sale. The sale, which will take place on April 17, will be open to anyone who has something to sell.

The Legion will also be selling homemade chili for $3.00 a bowl, with sales going to the America Legion to help with the plethora of programs that they offer.

Commander Chris McGee says of the sale, “This will be an opportunity for the community to see what the American Legion does with the area schools, such as Boys State and Girls State, and what we have planned throughout the remainder of the year.”

For $20, anyone can reserve a 12’ by 16’ space with a table included. Those reserving a spot can bring additional tables, and it is recommended to bring a pop-up tent as the weather may be hot. Proceeds from space rental will go towards funding a new memorial that the American Legion is planning in honor of the veterans of both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Being the first community garage sale the Legion has had, McGee says, “If all goes well, we would like to make this an annual event and hopefully grow each year.”

The sale will take place in the field between the American Legion and the Atlanta Police Department starting at 8 a.m. If interested in reserving a spot; please contact McGee at 903-748-2819.
