Execute Righteous Judgement

Israeli archeologists unearthed biblical fragments, dating back 2000 years ago, in a cave south of Jerusalem earlier this month. Among them were scriptures from the books of Zechariah, and Nahum, two prophets in the Old Testament. The scriptures speak of judgement.

We know in the Bible, that the word judgement is interchangeable with the word justice. We know that God is a God of justice, and through the scriptures, we see the righteous justice of God, and we know that God expects us to show the same toward one another.

The scripture in Zechariah, God is telling Judah; Zechariah 8:16-17- These are the things that you shall do, speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor, execute the judgement (justice) of truth and peace in your gates. And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath, for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.

God is talking to man on how to treat others. Then in Nahum 1:5-6, we have the scriptures of Gods judgement on the earth, The mountains quake at him and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before his indignation? And who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

God is all about Justice! Righteous judgement! Not the justice system we see working in this nation, or other parts of the world. God’s justice is holy, pure, truth, merciful, grace, kindness, compassion! Abraham declares in Genesis 18:25- Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?

Yes, he will! God executes Righteous Judgement, and he expects no less from the inhabitants of his world! His word states over and over how we are to treat others. Love one another, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, show mercy, speak every man truth to his neighbor, remember the poor, show kindness, defend the fatherless and widows, don’t cheat, don’t kill, don’t bear false witness.

Micah 6:8- He has shown thee, O man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.

Ephesians 4:32- Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.

Matthew 7:12- the words of our Lord....Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them, for this is the law and prophets.

We live in a generation where it seems to be ok to destroy someone’s career, their family, their character. It’s ok to slander, condemn, accuse, lie, cheat, murder, steal, because there doesn’t seem to be any repercussions for ones actions! But it’s not so with God! He keeps a record, he sees all and he knows all, and he will repay! He will repay according to our deeds, righteous indignation, righteous judgement!

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14- Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, Fear God, and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil! God will always execute righteous judgement!
