Entertained at the Country Music Store
Walking into the Country Music Store, one can feel the notes being plucked out. Melodic voices combine to create the feeling of another time and place. One that is reminiscent of front porch swinging, family, and sweet summer evenings. The jam session, which is held every third Friday of the month, is an assortment of young and old, with a variety of talents. From guitars to drums, banjos to mandolins, all combine to create a symphony of classic country. Owner Ed Strange’s love of music can be felt from the second one walks in. Indeed, he even has a sign in his store that proclaims, “Music is what feelings sound like.” A wide variety of musical instruments can be found for purchase and various paintings adorn the walls both outside and in, all painted by resident artist Shinar, who has also painted many murals around Atlanta. But, it is during the jam session that one can really appreciate Ed’s love of music. Joining in on Friday night, he played with a passion and even when he took a break from playing, you could see that he was filled with pride at watching this assortment of musicians take turns picking a song, the others joining in to create something so soulful. The jam session is held every third Friday of the month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. All are welcome to come and watch or even join in. Make sure you bring a lawn chair and get ready to have a great time.
