Early walk-in voting for May 24 Election This Week

Tuesday, May 24, 2022, will be the Primary Runoff Election where the candidates that qualified, will run to see who will represent their party in the general election in November. The last day for the May 24, in-person walk-in voting will be Friday, May 20. And the last day for the ballot turned in by mail will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022 (Election Day) at 7:00 p.m. if the carrier-envelope is not postmarked. If the carrier-envelope is postmarked the last day for mail-ins is Wednesday, May 25, 2022, (the next business day after Election Day) at 5:00 p.m. (unless overseas or military voter deadlines apply).

The May 24 election will feature three Republican races to be decided. In the first race, Ken Paxton will be facing George P. Push for the office of Texas Attorney General.

The second race will be for the Commissioner of the General Land office which will see Tim Westley facing Dawn Buckingham. Lastly for the Railroad Commissioner, Sarah Stogner will face Wayne Christian.

On the Democratic ballot, there will be five races to be settled in the runoff election. First, running for the opportunity to represent their party for United States Rep-resentative, District No. 1 will be Victor D. Dunn and Jrmar (JJ) Jefferson.

For the Lieutenant Governor race, Michelle Beckley will face Mike Collier. The Democratic Attorney General runoff race will see Joe Jaworski face Rochelle Mercedes Garza. The winner of this race will also face off against another runoff candidate from the republican side.

For the Comptroller of Public Accounts, Janet T. Dudding will face Angel Luis Vega for the opportunity to represent their party.

Lastly, for the Commissioner of the General Land Office, Jay Kleberg will face off against Sandragrace Martinez in the runoff election.

It is important to note that you must be registered for a particular party to vote in the primary election for a candidate from that party. Each voter will get a ballot for the party that they registered with.
