Dr. Briley Hearn, O.D. ArkLaTex Eyes
What is the name of the practice you will be joining in Texarkana? ArkLa-Tex Eyes – I will be seeing patients at the Texarkana and New Boston locations. Why did you choose to move to Texarkana, and how do you plan to get involved in the community here? I love the feel of Texarkana. It has the charms of a small town with many of the benefits of a larger city. I grew up nearby in Avery, Texas, and after living in San Antonio for years, have been looking forward to getting back to Northeast Texas! My husband and I are actively looking for a church to get involved with, and I plan to join some local clubs and organizations. I’m always looking for more opportunities to get involved and give back to my community! Tell me about your family. Do you have any family members joining on the move? My wonderful husband, Dalton, made the move with me. He is from Arkansas, so we love the fact that we can get the best of both worlds (and in this case, states) living in Texarkana. How did you get into the field of optometry? I’ve worn glasses since I was ten, so I have gone to the optometrist my whole life. My local optometrist was a huge inspiration. He truly knew and cared for his patients in a way that can be rare, and I saw the impression he made every day. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be like that. I still remember putting on my first frames and being blown away by the detail of the world around me. I’ve always wanted to help others have that same feeling. Do you have any special certifications or accomplishments that you are proud of? One achievement I’m proud of is graduating Cum Laude from optometry school.
What is your vision for practicing optometry here? I want to make a lasting impact on each patient I see through quality eye care, personal connection, and professional courtesy. I know how meaningful the gift of sight can be and hope to improve people’s quality of life through optometric care.
What do you feel will set you apart from other practices in our area?
The level of professional care offered at ArkLaTex Eyes is outstanding. From my first moment touring the office, I was impressed by how state-of-the-art everything was. The clinics have top-notch equipment, fantastic doctors, and knowledgeable staff. I’m excited to join such a wonderful team! Bio: Briley Hearn - An Ark-La-Tex native, Dr. Briley Hearn grew up in Avery, Texas and graduated from Avery High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Ouachita Baptist University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Following graduation, she moved to San Antonio, Texas to attend the University of the Incarnate Word – Rosenberg School of Optometry. She met her husband while in college, and the two have been married since 2020 (very fitting for an optometrist). Outside of the world of eyes, she enjoys traveling, reading, and supporting the Arkansas Razorbacks sports teams. Dr. Hearn is excited to return to the area and for the chance to re-connect with the local community. She believes the most rewarding aspect of optometry is the impact made on each individual patient. She is trained in all aspects of optometry with a special interest in primary eye care, ocular disease management, pediatric eye care and myopia management.
