Atlanta Softball
Atlanta softball defeated Marshall 6-1 on Feb. 18.
The Lady Rabbs opened up the scoring in the first inning and added four runs in the fourth inning.
Jordan Hodge got the start for Atlanta and allowed ten hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
Atlanta tallied ten hits in the game. Dani Arredondo, Callie Dyer, Hodge and Madison Gonzales each had multiple hits.
Arredondo led Atlanta with three hits in three at bats and Dyer led the way with four stolen bags.
Atlanta topped Harleton 3-1 in tournament play behind Valerie Mason pitched two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out two and walking one.
Kitty McCauley tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs and Cara Taylor, Sydni Brooke Davis and Sabriiyah Young each collected hits for the Lady Rabbs.
In another tourney the Lady Rabbs crushed Pine Tree 14-0 after Cara Taylor started the scoring barrage by driving in a run off of a double.
Atlanta tallied 22 hits as Valerie Mason, Dani Arredondo, Jordan Hodge, Kitty McCauley, Sabriiyah Young, and Taylor each collected multiple hit.
Hodge, Arredondo and Mason all had three hits and Arredondo led the way with four stolen bases.
Atlanta stole 20 bases on the day.
Against Elysian Fields the Lady Rabbits fell 3-2 late in the game.
Jordan Hodge was in the pitcher’s circle for Atlanta as she went four and a third innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out three.
Dani Arredondo went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Lady Rabbs.
Atlanta tied with Kilgore in other tournament action.
Coty Hall, Dani Arredondo, Cara Taylor, Valerie Mason, Callie Dyer and Kitty McCauley each collected one hit in the contest.
Pleasant Grove blanked Atlanta 6-0 in tourney play, the Lady Rabbs lost to Hughes Springs and fell to Waskom but did have two pitchers combine for a no-hitter versus James Bowie.
In the 13-0 win over the Lady Pirates
Jordan Hodge surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two and a third innings, striking out one and walking one and Valerie Mason pitched lights out in relief.
A 10-run outburst in the third inning was largely because of singles off the bats of Callie Dyer, Jordan Hodge, Mason, Coty Hall and Cara Taylor and doubles by Sydni Brooke Davis and Sabriiyah Young.
Hall, Arredondo, Taylor, Dyer, Hodge and Mason each had RBIs in the inning.
Atlanta had 13 hits in the game with Mason, Kitty McCauley, Dyer, Young, and Hall managing multiple hits.
Mar. 3, the Lady Rabbit started district play against DeKalb and picked up a 10-0 win.
Jordan Hodge threw a gem, pitching all seven innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out 11.
Atlanta tallied five runs in the fourth inning. Coty Hall, Dani Arredondo and Callie Dyer all drove in runs. Hall drove in three alone with a stand up triple and Hodge also tripled in the contest.
The biggest hit on the night came off the bat of Arredondo as she hit a two-run dinger in the third inning.
Valerie Mason went 2-for-4 at the plate and Arredondo led Atlanta with four stolen bases.
Queen City Softball
Queen City’s softball team opened the season with a 5-1 win over Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill.
Jayley Stringer was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Jayce Calloway was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double, McKenzy Nichols hits a double in the contest, Lexee Whatley added a single and Landri Beckham was 2-for-2.
Kaci Thomas gave up just two hits over six innings with 10 strikeouts.
In the second game of the year QC topped stateranked neighbor Bloomburg 13-0.
Kaci Thomas was once again a force as she only gave up one hit in three innings of play.
Macey Belote belted a 2-run homerun as part of her 2-for-3 day with four RBIs, McKenzy Nichols added a triple and two RBIs, Landri Beckham had two doubles in two at bats, Jayce Calloway was 3-for-3 with a double and three ribbies, Jayley Stringer was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Jacey Cauthorn had two singles, Jade Albertson had a single, Lexee Whatley posted two hits with an RBI and Madeline Clayton had a single and an RBI.
After a 13-1 loss to 4A Pittsburg and a close 8-7 loss to Sabine Feb. 22, the Lady Bulldogs picked up a 7-6 win the same day against Jefferson.
In a true Bulldog fight QC went up 3-0 after one inning of play but Jefferson plated four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
After two more runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the second Jeffy had a 6-3 lead.
QC scored a run in the third and three in the fourth ahead of the allotted time in the tourney format to seal the win.
Macey Belote slammed a pair of doubles with an RBI, Jacey Cauthorn was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Jade Albertson added a single, Landri Beckham had an RBI single and Jayley Stringer posted a single.
Feb. 27, the Lady Bulldogs blew open a close 2-1 game with Detroit by plating five runs in the third and nine in the fourth to take a 16-1 victory.
McKenzy Nichols scattered three hits over four innings with five strikeouts.
Jacey Cauthorn had three hits in the contest with an RBI, Jayley Stringer had two hits with a triple and two RBIs, Kaci Thomas was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, Landri Beckham hit a double with an RBI, Macey Belote was 2-for-3 with two ribbies, Nichols hit a double, Erica Jones had an RBI single and Jayce Calloway had a single with two RBIs.
Feb. 27, the Lady bulldogs beat county foe Mc-Leod 9-2.
Macey Belote had a 3-for-3 game with a double and three RBIs, McKenzy Nichols was 2-for-3 with a double, Jayley Stringer, Jacey Cauthorn and Jayce Calloway added singles, and both Jade Albertson and Landri Beckham had singles with two RBIs.
In the final game of the McLeod tourney Feb. 28, the Lady bulldogs trounced Maud 11-0 in three innings.
Kaci Thomas pitched a shutout with eight Ks and she added an RBI single from the dish.
Jayce Calloway had a big day from the plate as she went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Jacey Cauthorn was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Macey Belote had an RBI triple and Lexee Whatley added two triples and an RBI.
Mar. 2, the Lady Bulldogs opened district play against Paul Pewitt and blanked the Brahmas 10-0.
Kaci Thomas only gave up two hits in five and two-thirds innings while ringing up 10 batters.
Gracie Orr pitched in relief.
Lexee Whatley was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, Jayce Calloway was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Jayley Stringer was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Orr was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and the Lady Bulldogs received single contribution hits from McKenzy Nichols, Macey Belote, Jacey Cauthorn, Jade Albertson and Landri Beckham.
Mar. 6-8 the Lady Bulldogs lost to Edgewood 3-1, Joaquin 2-0, center 5-2 and Pittsburg 8-3.
QC did pick up a 4-1 win over Chapel Hill.
Kaci Thomas scattered five hits over six innings with eight strikeouts.
Macey Belote, Jayce Calloway, McKenzy Nichols and Jayley Stringer each hit doubles in the game, Calloway and Stringer had multiple hits and Belote had two RBIs.
Atlanta Baseball
Atlanta’s varsity baseball squad took on Spring Hill Mar. 2, at home.
The Rabbs broke open a 1-1 tie with a four-run fourth and a three-run fifth en route to an 8-1 win.
Randall Mason gave up only three hits over five innings with three strikeouts.
Jackson Warren and Keyonta King both had two hits in the game, Max Ebarb doubled and the Rabbs received singles from Kade Wood, Kelby Smith, Kolby Mason, Hunter Allen and Kale Carpenter.
In the Texas High Tournament Mar. 6-7, the Rabbs lost two close games to big Arkansas schools (3-0 loss to Lakeside-Hot Springs and 2-1 loss to Northside-Ft. Smith) but did top Lake Hamilton 14-5.
The game was tied 3-3 after three innings and then Lake Hamilton plated two runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead.
The Rabbs tied up the contest with two runs in the sixth and blew the doors off with a 9-run sixth.
Max Ebarb was 4-for-5 with two ribbies, Kade Wood was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Hunter Allen was 3-for-4 with a ribeye, Jackson Warren was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Cooper McClure was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Kelby smith had an RBI single, Kale Carpenter had a double with an RBI and Nick Burden had an RBI single.
