Cullen Baker Fair is Saturday

Special to the Journal-Sun

The Cullen Baker Fair is upon us. Come take part in the fun as things kickoff early Saturday, Nov. 5, morning.

Get on your singing/dancing shoes, people, Tim McCasland and his music are everywhere. He has been on the Bluebonnet Opry in the Silver Wings Ballroom. He’ll be at the Alvin Opry on November 11, and he frequents places like Brady, Texas. It is west of Austin in the hill country and is known far and wide as Little Nashville, Tennessee.

Tim loves to perform. He knows he’ll never get rich doing his music but that doesn’t stop him. It’s the love of what he’s doing that keeps him going.

“I just love to perform,” said Tim as he sat at his kitchen table talking about festivals, house bands, the Opry, and the two CD’s he produced and recorded that went platinum overseas and in Europe. Even now he’s lined out to do a show in Brady, Texas for RFD TV. That would be a 30-minute show named “True Country.” Stay tuned for details.

For the Cullen Baker Fair, Tim has volunteered and signed up some of the best gospel, country, and blended country musicians he could find. There’s Line Creek Revival led by Gary Lummus. They will play from 9 a.m. until the parade starts.

Then there is Tim’s own band named ‘Blended Country’. They will be playing from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Lane Bricker will be the other featured performer for the Fair.

Saturday night there will be a Street Dance with different styles of music and karaoke.

Yes, you might say Tim McCasland is wrapped up in his music. He has also successfully started the Bloomburg Opry. Two events have been staged and a third one is scheduled for the third Saturday night of the month in November.

And that’s a standard time when all will be held the third Saturday night of the month. These monthly events are scheduled from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m. at the Bloomburg Community Center. There is a following of people who sing along, just listen and some dance. The public is invited to attend. No fee is charged. Y’all come.

Tim McCasland’s main focus is to do a good job. As he says, he loves to entertain. In addition to liking to bring communities together in a good time, he also likes “Praising the Lord with everything I do.”
