Cruise night honors namesake
The annual Steven Smith Cruise Night, held Saturday, June 12, undeniably honored the memory of a great and wonderful man. Smith was not only a drag boat owner and driver, but also a drag car owner and driver and enjoyed classic cars as well.
In that spirit, classic car owners gathered in downtown Atlanta to celebrate the life of Smith and enjoy the diverse assemblage of cars and trucks from bygone eras to years only just passed. Included in the multitude of automobiles was the stand out car that those in attendance are always encouraged to write on, leaving their name or messages of hope and positivity.
This year’s cruise night also included a community ice cream contest and an art walk that featured several local 903 Artisans artists.
In honor of a man who was not only well respected within his hometown community, but also his racing community and a man who was loved by many for his abundant heart and caring spirit. Despite the sweltering heat, this year’s Steven Smith Cruise Night certainly celebrated its namesake admirably.
