Cox awarded optometrist of the year

Dr. Adam Cox of Family Eye Care Clinic in Atlanta recently received the 2022 State of Texas Young Optometrist of the Year award. The presentation was made at the Texas Optometric Association’s annual convention in Austin, Texas.

This award is given to a Texas optometrist 40 years of age or younger who has rendered outstanding service in discharging the responsibilities of professional leadership on local, state or national levels, who has demonstrated by action the highest regard for the ethics and ideals of the Texas Optometric Association (TOA), and whose actions have reflected credit upon the profession of optometry.

The presentation was made by last year’s recipient, Dr. Matt Valdez of San Antonio. He stated that Dr. Cox exemplifies the highest of these values in serving his profession, his patients and his community.

While attending University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Cox received numerous accolades for patient care from his professors including the top clinician in family practice selected from a class of 100 doctors.

He has served the last three years on the Texas Optometric Association Board of Directors. Last year he was instrumental in expanding the scope of practice for all Texas optometrists by testifying before the Texas legislature in support of optometry’s training and capacity for patient care. He holds an active license in Texas and Louisiana and cares for patients in both states.

Dr. Cox maintains a busy optometric practice where his patients speak highly of the excellent care he provides.

He takes an active role along with his wife Jennifer in caring for their three young children including coaching his son’s youth baseball and soccer teams.

He also enthusiastically participates in his community. He has served on numerous committees at his church, on the Atlanta Hospital Foundation Board and on the Atlanta Educational Foundation Board. He is presently serving as chairman of the Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce.
