City partners with N.E. Texas Small Business Development Center
“Atlanta Mayor Travis Ransom announces partnership between City of Atlanta and the Northeast Texas Small Business Development Center, Atlanta City Development Corporation and Atlanta Economic Development Corporation.”
Mayor Travis Ransom announced today that the City of Atlanta and the N.E. Texas Small Business Development Center (SBDC) formed a “first of a kind” partnership in the region.
The SBDC has agreed to staff an office inside Atlanta City Hall to help prospective entrepreneurs develop new business ideas or plan for existing business expansion.
The SBDC promotes small business success by providing free management education. They assist small businesses in creating jobs and economic growth by utilizing the elements of quality counseling and training, community involvement and the leveraging of resources.
The SBDC program is part of a nationwide system that links the resources of federal, state and local government to those of colleges, universities and the private sector to meet the specialized needs of small businesses.
Mayor Ransom said, “I’m excited to have this opportunity and we’re looking for great results from this partnership. It’s wonderful that local entrepreneurs have this resource so close to home.”
“Both the Atlanta City Development Corporation and the Atlanta Economic Development Corporation sponsored the partnership agreement by providing $7,500 each over the first 18-months of the partnership”, Ransom said.
The office will be staffed on Monday’s and Wednesdays.
Entrepreneurs interested in meeting the SBDC office may call the Regional SBDC Office at 903-434-8237 to make an appointment with a business consultant in Atlanta.
