City of Linden introduces CodeRed
“Public safety, transparency, and outreach are viewed as key attributes our city leadership desires,” says Linden City Manager, Lee Elliott. After a recent decision by the mayor and council members, it has been decided that the City of Linden will bring a new way of achieving the three attributes-CodeRed! CodeRed is a system in which citizens can sign up for cell phone calls, texts, landline calls, and e-mail notifications for emergencies or community events.
According to the website Onsolve, the company that provides the solution “CodeRed”, CodeRED is a cloud-based software solution that has been trusted by government agencies since 1998 to provide real-time information that helps save lives in the community “Some examples,” says Elliott, include, “when we have boil water notices. If a citizen signs up for the notifications, a notification will be sent via up to all four ways of notice (which ways received are up to the individual when signing up). If a tornado is approaching Linden, the same type of notices can go out. If an individual is interested in a city event, the same type of notices can be generated.”
Elliott notes that recently, “public safety, public works, and administrative staff have been recently receiving training. In the coming weeks, information will be sent to citizens on how to sign up for CodeRed notices. This is a free service. If you are a non-Linden citizen, you too are able to sign up.”
Elliott encourages the community that “If you would like to explore what CodeRed offers, please go to the following website address: https://www.onsolve.com” “The city is very excited to provide this service. After researching, we believe this is the best way of improving public safety and outreach for our citizenry.”
