City council approves property tax rate

The Atlanta City Council held a regular session on Tuesday in the council chambers located at city hall.

A public hearing was held regarding the property tax rate for 2019-2020. The council approved a rate of .660641 which was the rate for 2018-2019.

The council authorized an application to the routine airport maintenance program for fiscal year 2020. Application is made to the Texas Department of Transportation Airport Division, annually. The city will purchase new furniture for the terminal with 50% of its cost reimbursed by grant.

Dr. Larry Breashears was appointed as a director of the Atlanta City Development Corporation. The council approved a budget for city development for fiscal year 2019-2020. The demolition of the Derricks Motel, installation of a splash pad, and sound system downtown were some of the upcoming projects discussed.
