Church plans veterans’ memorial project

The members of Center Grove Bapist Church in Linden, Texas, would like to invite you to join us by donating to our veterans’ memorial project.

Pastor T. J. Bolt and church members are planning to erect a memorial near the flagpole to honor the veterans who are buried in the Center Grove Cemetary as well as Billy Royce Kirkland who was a mamber of Center Grove Baptist Church, a veteran, and a dedicated patriot for the United States of America.

We plan to inscribe the names and military branch of service of each veteran on the memorial. Center Grove has been published as the “center” location of Cass County. Our desire is to honor the veterans as well as attract individuals of Cass County and the surrounding areas to visit this historical place where soldiers are buried. These men fought in military events that helped our nation.

Billy Royce Kirkland prepared the list of soldiers’ names with their military branches in which they served. These soldiers represent those who fought in the Mexican War, Confederate Texas and Tennessee Volunteers, U.S. Calvary, Texas Mounted Rangers, Cost Artillery, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marines. He recognized and honored each one of them during the Memorial Day services he presented at Center Grove Baptist Church.
