Chamber to vote on new candidates
In comes 2021, and everyone still thankful from Thanksgiving says a big thank you for 2020 getting ready to be in their rearview mirror. That said there was plenty to be thankful for in 2020 including the hard work the chamber staff and the board did throughout this last year.
Coming in 2021 there will be some changes on the board. “I am sad to see Clay, Robin, and Randal rolling off this year. Robin and Randal have both served on the board for two consecutive terms, which is six years, so they have been with me almost the entire time I’ve been with the Chamber. Clay has completed one term, but he brings a special energy to our group, and he will be missed! Of course, I hope to recruit them all back after a year or two!”, says Miranda Johnson the director of the Atlanta Chamber of commerce.
Johnson went on to say that she feels good going into 2021 with the group she has and the potential new board members coming in. “I have a very strong board with hard workers who don’t shy away from our many hands-on events. I am so thankful for each of my directors who are carrying over to 2021 and I also feel great about the new names on the ballot!”
To those who chose to run this time around they are in for something special says Johnson. “The Chamber Board is probably our most hands-on “working” Board vs an advisory style Board, which is great because it creates lasting bonds and many memories. I am looking forward to seeing the results of the vote!”
Currently there are two open seats and nine serving with three rolling off which will open the door for five more participants. The current list is as follows Robin Betts, City of Atlanta (Rolling off); Rachel Bouchard, CHRISTUS St Michael Hospital Atlanta; Clay Collins, Bob’s Printing (Rolling off); Adam Cox, Family Eye Care Clinic; Terre Gaston, Atlanta ISD; Corey Graf, State Bank; Amanda Lafferty, Amanda Whatley Lafferty Law Firm; Courtney Shelton, Individual Membership; and Price Hardware (Rolling Off).
The new candidates include Meagan Beauchamp, Heritage Home Health & Hospice; Randy Pennington, Price Hardware; Lovee Pinson, HealthCare Express; Kali Rushing, Kali Rushing Photography; Kate Stow, Cass County Citizens Journal Sun; and Marcie Whatley, Double Creek United Country Land and Homes.
Johnson says that people can vote up until this Friday, December 4th at 4pm. People can drop off their picks to the Chamber office or email Miranda Johnson at miranda.johnson@atlantatexas.org.
