Cass County man arrested for murder in Paris
Texas Rangers, with the assistance of the Red River County Sheriff ’s Office, arrested a Cass County man in connection with a July 3 shooting in Clarksville that left 33-year-old Izah Kirryae Runels dead and three other men suspected of murder, according to Lt. Freddy Booker, an investigator with the sheriff ’s office.
Harvest Lee Hines III, 26, of Atlanta, Texas, was held Thursday at Red River County Jail on bonds totaling $1,010,000 for charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence with intent and driving with an invalid license, according to jail records.
At approximately 7:40 p.m. July 3, deputies with RRCSO were called to the 1000 block of West Broadway St. in Clarksville due to a shooting, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit.
Deputies found Runels deceased on the front porch of the residence with a gunshot wound to his head, according to an affidavit.
The shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation at the LaMas convenience store between Kevin Echun Threadgill Jr. and A’Kila Seliss McCain, in which Threadgill displayed and racked the slide of a handgun, according to an affidavit.
A’Kila McCain returned with her brothers Quentence Omar Doolittle and Keari Dewayne McCain, and one other unknown male, asking about the whereabouts of Threadgill, according to an affidavit.
While he wasn’t sure what the initial altercation was about, Booker said it had been going on for a while.
“It’s been an ongoing issue between Kevin Threadgill and some of the boys involved with the shooting,” the investigator explained. “I’m not sure what the issue was, but all I know is it ended badly.”
A shootout erupted at the West Broadway Street residence, something Threadgill anticipated once arriving to the home, according to an affidavit.
“(McCain, Galbert, Doolittle and Hines) walked up down the street, a few yards from the house, and then opened fire and had a shootout,” Booker said.
Deputies found bullet casings in the roadway of West Broadway Street and in a western direction to Cheatham Street, with several more collected from the yard and porch area of the home, and deputies also located a substance that had the appearance of blood toward Cheatham Street, according to an affidavit.
Keari McCain, Doolittle and Jack Darian-Mytez Galbert also have warrants out for their arrest in connection with the murder, according to Booker.
While at the scene, deputies learned Galbert was transported to Paris Regional Health with injuries to both legs consistent with gunshot wounds, according to an affidavit.
Deputies learned through interviews, Galbert was driven to Paris by Keari McCain and Hines in a sport utility vehicle owned by the former’s girlfriend, according to an affidavit.
Deputies later located the vehicle abandoned at a restaurant in Atlanta, Texas, with a rear seat, right and left door panels and carpet removed, but were still able to collect blood for laboratory analysis, according to an affidavit.
The agencies arrested Hines without incident around 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of Lamar Avenue in Paris, Booker said.
While the other men are considered armed and dangerous, Booker said they have likely left the area.
