Bowie-Cass update
As of Monday afternoon, Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative has continued to restore power for Cass County residents. As of 5:00 p.m. Monday, 1754 people were still without power in the Cass County service area.
Devin Skaggs, Director of Marketing & Member Communications, said that “our line crews have made tremendous progress over the last several days in restoring power to our members, even after all the setbacks due to the weather. We have crews working all throughout our service territory. Our hardest-hit areas are Lonestar, Hughes Springs, Bloomburg, Domino, and Queen City.
Bloomburg, Domino, Queen City and other surrounding areas suffered severe damage after the tornado.
“All along the southern edge of our service territory suffered significant damage when straight-line winds tore through late Thursday/early Friday morning. That storm set us back from our tornado recovery by 3000+ meters.
“We have multiple crews from 8 different cooperatives here helping us with the restoration work. If we can avoid any further setbacks from the weather our best estimate for the bulk of our meters to be back online is by the end of the week. There may still be some outlying outages that may take longer.
“We recommend that our members follow along with our updates on our Facebook page and they can also view our outage map at any time to track the restoration progress. http://outages. bcec.com:89/ “Being without power is not ideal for anyone, especially during the summer months. It’s hot and sticky and all around uncomfortable. We completely understand how difficult it is to be without power. Our employees are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power. We will continue to do so until all members are restored. We’ve gathered Cooling Center information that will be kept updated on our Facebook page for those that are in need of somewhere to cool off and charge their devices.”
We keep saying it, but we truly do appreciate our members for their kindness and understanding as we continue our storm recovery efforts.
