Atlanta State Park re-opens after improvements
Atlanta State Park was back open and ready for visitors as of last Friday, July 27 after road re-surfacing throughout the park.
“During our closure from July 9-26, Atlanta State Park was able to get some much needed road improvements from TxDOT,” said Park Superintendent, Sam Knox. “All our campsites, roads, parking lots and boat ramps received a new layer of asphalt and striping.”
According to Knox, the park staff also took the opportunity while the park closed to do some repairs and improvements to their trail system.
Whether it’s a week-long camping trip or just a day at the lake, there is something for everyone at Atlanta State Park. There are several trails for the hiker and nature enthusiast. There are also many areas for picnicking, whether it’s for a small group or large group of people. The park has two boat ramps for the avid fisherman and many areas to fish from the bank, and just a reminder, no fishing license is required at a State Park to fish from the bank.
“We are excited to show off our new improvements to the public, so come out and see us,” added Knox.
