Atlanta Miller Grade School Update

Atlanta Grade School Friends has a lot to look forward to in the school’s restoration, with 3-D mapping underway and an imminent Texas Historical Commission conference where they will present the school’s historical significance.

According to January’s newsletter, Atlanta Grade School Friends are honored to share their story at Texas Historical Commission Real Places 2023 Conference in Austin, Texas while Architexas has made headway in restoration efforts by digitally mapping the school building to help in detailed planning.

Juan Raymon Rubio, a designer with Architexas digitally mapped the school and converted the imagining to a Matterport 3D Image, the newsletter shared. Matterport is said to create a realistic digital twin for buildings which enables clients to explore and evaluate properties with greater ease.

The virtual model of the school’s layout enables everyone to visualize each space and plan accordingly and in greater detail, they said.

The conference will allow the presentation team to share the history of the local grade school from the point when Atlanta Grade School Friends collaborated in an effort to save the school from destruction. They will tell of the extensive clean-up and stabilization efforts that lead up to current efforts with Architects to redesign/ remodel.
