Atlanta ISD gears up for 2023-24 school year
Editors Note: We will be featuring information on each of the area’s schools over the next couple of weeks.
As we free fall into mid-July, Atlanta Independent School District begins gearing up for a new school year starting August 14.
Atlanta ISD’s back-to-school website, atlisd.net/365944_2, provides all the information needed to get little rabbits everything they need for another year of learning and fun.
While returning students can register online, Atlanta is accepting new and transfer students who will need to fill out the form listed on the aforementioned website.
The documents needed for new student registration include
• Child’s birth certificate
• Child’s Social Security Card
• Proof of residency (utility bill)
• Immunization record
• Parent/Guardian’s driver’s license or other photo ID Meet the Teacher night for Atlanta Primary School is scheduled for August 10, from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m., while the Elementary scheduled its Meet the Teacher night ion the 10th, between 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Middle School and High School ‘Meet the Teacher’ night is to be announced soon, according to their online calendar. Parents and new third-grade students are encouraged to attend a campus orientation at Atlanta Elementary School Cafeteria on August 1st at 6:00 p.m.
A sixth-grade orientation is set for August 3rd, from 5:30 p.m.7:00 p.m. at the middle school, where parents and their students can pick up schedules, register, meet the teachers, and have campus tours.
Primary, elementary, and middle school supply lists are also available on the school website at https://atlisd.net/365944_2. High School supplies will be determined by teachers and may vary.
In June, Atlanta Middle School principal Colby Boyce and Atlanta High School principal Nancy Rinehart for being honored as Outstanding Principals by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals during the Texas Heroes Awards Dinner in Austin.
Atlanta ISD has welcomed on some new faculty members for the 2023-2024 school year–some of whom are alumni who have returned to teach.

• Emilee Reynolds, AES AISD staff congratulated Chief Charles ‘Tank’ McDuffie this summer for being elected as the 2nd Vice President of the Texas School District Police Chiefs’ Association.
“Your leadership and commitment to student safety are truly commendable. We are proud to have you representing our district and know you’ll make a significant impact in your new role,” AISD staff posted.
A Free Youth Football Camp is set for July 24 from 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. for anyone with kids interested in learning more about football, according to AISD’s Facebook page.
“This is a great opportunity for them to come out and have some fun,” the staff posted. Keep up with AISD’s website or Facebook page for further information on the football clinic.

Parents of 2024 seniors can personalize a senior ad in the yearbook, as well, starting July 17, to show their senior’s journey to adulthood. However, space is limited, according to staff.
On August 7, Ron Clark Academy out of Atlanta, Georgia will give a presentation for Atlanta ISD, using their house sorting system, according to Rebecca Potter, AISD communications director. Atlanta ISD provides bus transportation to and from school and the after-school program for its students. BLAST will begin on August 21 and operate Monday – Thursday from 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and from 3:30-6 p.m. on Fridays.
