Perhaps the most real event of any festival is the petting zoo. Here one can be close to living beings usually seen only on the video screen. One wants to be friends with the animal. Maybe give it a hug.

Atlanta Hometown Christmas

Atlanta’s downtown was turned into a fairly tale for a few hours Saturday.

From 4 to 8 p.m. exactly.

This is when the 11th annual Hometown Christmas presented by Atlanta Area Young Professional Network joined with the Atlanta Local Holiday Maker’s Market of almost 100 vendors to celebrate Christmas.

The gift nature of the evening was that activities such as the petting zoo, horse and carriage rides, mail box to the North Pole, street performers and Santa himself were sponsored by City National Bank and Atlanta City Development Corporation. The local maker’s market was sponsored by Genesis Primecare. This made events free.

The four hour event was an occasion for fun and high quality experience. Vendors, entertainers and the public made their best presentations and were on their best behavior. Sidewalks and streets were filled with people walking shoulder to shoulder, going from one colorful display to another.

The Atlanta Area Young Professional Network seeks to develop leaders, promote commerce and represent the Atlanta area. The local maker’s market is a quarterly activity of the Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce to promote local artisans Together, the two can create a village. One can touch a camel, shake hands with a man ten feet tall, ride in a horse and carriage or purchase a local and unique homemade Christmas gift. That seems to be a fairyland.
