Atlanta Founder’s Day Festival Update
With less than a month left to plan, the Atlanta Founder’s Day Committee has made a few changes and additions to the schedule.
One is a gift from sponsor Tony Buzbee: a horse-drawn wagon available for free rides from downtown to the Miller Grade School with hourly shuttles to the old Brooks Mansion. New owner, Raul Suarez, is offering free tours of the venue, renamed Chateau South, that afternoon - however you must take the shuttle to avoid traffic congestion – no other vehicles may enter the property during that time.
Softball Tournament at 9 a.m. on September 3, with Cass County Judge Travis Ransom throwing out the first pitch. Four teams – Rancheros, Lumberjacks, Sodbusters and Cowboys – will compete for the title of Founder’s Day Champions. Food trucks will be available.
The Atlanta Area Rotary Miss Atlanta Scholarship Pageant will take place at the Mattie Lanier Richey Center at 6 p.m. on September 3. Entry form information can be found in this issue.
