Alexander named deputy district clerk

The Cass County Commissioner’s Court held a regular session on May 25 at 8:30 a.m. in Linden to discuss a number of items. Among those present for the meeting were Commissioners Darrell Godwin and Brett Fitts, County Clerk Amy Varnell, and Auditor Jim Loomis.

A presentation was delivered by Jordan Shaw CPA of McMinn, Laird & Company, PC regarding the 2020 Fiscal Year county audit. According to Shaw, the financial statements are in order and there were no major issues that needed to be corrected. The largest expenditure categories for 2020 were Administration and Finance, Roads and Public Works, and Law Enforcement Activities which is considered pretty standard by Shaw.

Fitts and Godwin made a motion to approve the deputation and bond of Sarah Alexander as Deputy District Clerk. Cass County Auditor, Jim Loomis, gave a favorable report for April 2021 with no significant changes. Fitts and Godwin made a motion to approve donations in the amount of $2,992 in cash and $1,340 in checks for the K9 programs. Fitts and Godwin approved the County Auditor’s financial report and expenses in which separate revenue and expenditure accounts were set up to track what is being spent towards the incoming K9 and any future expenses for the K9 program.

The Cass County Commissioners Court regular session adjourned at 8:51 a.m. and was approved by Fitts and Godwin.
