100th birthday celebration for Juanita Brown Wilson

Juanita Brown Wilson turned 100 years old on May 11. She celebrated her birthday on Saturday, May 13, at her home with a party hosted by her children: Bettye Brown Penniston, Tommy Brown, and Barbara Brown McCasland.

All seven of her grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson attended as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Guests came from the Houston area, the Dallas area, Sulphur Springs, Greenville, Texarkana, Arkansas, Utah, and the local area.

She still lives in her home where she reared her children. She was married to Grant Brown, the father of her children from 1939 to 1984.

She later married Philip Wilson who lived until 2011. She enjoys visiting and talking on the phone with friends and family. She enjoyed the many visits, calls, cards, and gifts she received for her birthday, and she also received a Certificate of Congratulations from Governor Abbott for achieving 100 years.

When asked what she attributes to living to be 100 years old, she said, “Eating healthy, not drinking or smoking, and staying active.” She concluded, “I have been very blessed in my life.”
