Goodbye summer, hello new school year

As summer comes to a close and students gear up to return to school, we are reminded of the fun times we had this season. From monthly, themed block parties in Linden to Summerfest and fireworks in Atlanta for Fourth of July, Cass County rallied together to make this Summer a special one to remember. However, now it is time to shift the focus and get ready for an eventful, new school year.

For the 2021-2022 school year, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows Atlanta ISD schools to offer free meals for all students for the duration of the school year. Free, healthy meals will be offered to students every day regardless of income eligibility. However, income eligibility will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year.

Registration for 7th and 8th grade students of Atlanta ISD will be Jul. 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Jul. 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Student IDs will be made and Chromebooks can be picked up at the time. Registration for incoming 6th graders will be Aug. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Atlanta Middle School gym with refreshments provided. Online registration is open at https://ams.atlisd.net/, however parents will still need to fill out some paperwork in person.

Atlanta High School will be hosting a Back 2 School Rabbit Camp for incoming Freshmen. It will be held on Aug. 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. in the gym.

Online registration for Linden-Kildare CISD is currently open for the 2021-2022 school year. Parents can use their parent portal account on the Linden-Kildare CISD website to complete registration. For more information, go to https://lkcisd.net/544587_3.

Schedule pick-up at Queen City High School will be Aug. 2 from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. and Aug. 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Online registration must be complete before then for a schedule to be released. Parents and children must come together to sign additional paperwork.
