ABUNDANT to hit AMC Theatre

A couple of former Atlanta High School graduates are getting a chance to shine.

Michael Wallace, Elanderia Rowe and Davita Kidney Care have collaborated with a film director to bring a Transplant Living Donor Film Documentary to AMC Theatre in Dallas on Thursday, September 19.

The Transplant Living Donor Movie Screening is called ABUNDANT and is sponsored by Davita Kidney Care.

The event is free to see and those in attendance will get to hear inspiring real-life transplant stories, understand the living donor process, connect directly with the filmmakers and medical experts and learn how organ donation saves lives in our community.

ABUNDANT is a documentary film that follows the unbelievable events that occurred when a cast of kidney donors came together to create a live staged storytelling show. The film documents firsthand experience of organ transplant and the life-changing gift of donation.

ABUNDANT enters the world of extreme altruism: non-directed kidney donation where people donate kidneys to complete strangers. Through touching personal stories and illuminating interviews with nationally-acclaimed experts, this film explores how our culture struggles with abundance and what we can do to become more altruistic as a community.

Many don’t know but there is a disease burden in our communities.

• End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) disproportionately impacts African American and Hispanic populations.

• African Americans are three times more likely to develop kidney failure vs. white Americans

• Higher prevalence of hypertension as a cause

• Hispanic/Mexican Americans have significantly higher rates of ESRD, higher prevalence of diabetes, hypertension and glomerulonephritis.

ABUNDANT aims to educate communities at risk, spark conversations about living donation, inspire hope and possibility and advocate for equitable transplant access.

The AMC Theatre in North Park is located at 8687 N Central Expy #3000 in Dallas.
