4-H Committee seeking members
There is a new committee in Cass County looking for members by Nov. 15.
The new formation of the Cass County 4-H Youth Development Program Area Committee {PAC) is inviting people to consider becoming members of this important advisory group.
The 4-H PAC will serve as a vital partner in shaping and supporting the educational programming offered through the Cass County 4-H program.
It’s already noted that 4-H empowers young people with skills the classroom doesn’t always teach. Confidence; the know-how to work well with others; the ability to push through challenges and stick with a job until it gets done.
In 4H, they don’t just prepare youth with the knowledge to get through life’s obstacles, they teach them how to conquer them.
The 4 H programa’s hands-on approach is proven to grow life skills like confidence, independence, re- silience and compassion through stages and developed through experiences, not instruction.
The result? Kids who are empowered with the skills to lead for a lifetime.
As a PAC member, you will have the opportunity to provide input on program priorities, youth development strategies, outreach, and community partnerships that will help guide the future of 4-H in our county.
The committee will meet quarterly, with the first meeting scheduled for December 1, 2025, at Prairie View A&M University Extension Office located at 1008 North Louise Street in Atlanta.
At this meeting, the committee structure, outline goals for the coming year and planning for 2026 will be introduced.
The 2026 quarterly meeting dates are as follows - March 3, 2026, June 2, 2026, September 1, 2026 and December 1, 2026.
All meetings will be held at the Cass County Extension Office from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Location and meeting times can be adjusted based on committee approval.
New 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent for Cass County Larry Allen said, “We are seeking a diverse group of individuals, community leaders, parents, educators, volunteers, and former 4-H members-who are passionate about youth development and community engagement. Your voice and experience would be an asset to this committee.”
If you are interested in serving on the Cass County 4-H PAC or would like to recommend someone, please contact Allen at 469-534-0821 or by email at lballen@pvamu.edu.
