My Paternal Lineage (Dad) A Quote from Traylor Russell’s book (History of Titus County-Volume 11). “Wiliam Hayes had the reputation in his community of being a man of understanding and fairness, and although he never held a public office, it is said that he settled practically every dispute and difference that arose in his community between the neighbors. His understanding and fairness were such that whenever any of the neighbors became involved over any land line or other property rights, they would agree to submit it to arbitration by William Hayes, and would agree to be bound by whatever his decision might be. He was born in 1820 and died in 1892. His wife was born in 1833 and died in 1872.” (2nd Wife) (This article based on information given by Nora Johnson and Hayes Johnson).
