Thompson, Ransom speak at meeting

The Eastern Cass County School Retirees Association held its regular meeting on Nov. 9 at the First Methodist Church in Queen City.

The program consisted of two speakers: Lisa Porterfield Thompson, Economic Development, Communications, and Special Projects Administrator for the City of Texarkana, Texas, and Atlanta Mayor Travis Ransom.

Lisa Thompsom updated the group on current trends concerning covid. There are still things to overcome, but are learning to work smarter. An Infusion Center has been opened in Bowie County and is gree to anyone with a positive covid test.

Atlanta Mayor Travis Ransom spoke the the group concerning the needs of Cass County to protect private property rights from threats like the proposed Marvin Nichols Reservoir which could take over a hundred thousand acres from Northeast Texas and threaten our timber industry.
