Music, food, and culture

Jordan and Jacqueline Rain are both no strangers to the creative process. In fact, most in Linden have seen their RV decorated with their band’s name, Yogoman Burning Band. Billed as a seven piece dance band, the pair, along with their bandmates have been touring actively since 2005 and have called Linden home on and off for the last three years. Jacqueline is a native to the area while her husband, Jordan is a native of Seattle.

It was while on tour to New

Orleans that the couple stopped

at her parents’ home that changed

everything. Jordan says he “fell in love

with the peace and beauty here.” Seattle is very

well known for its music scene, having birthed such legends as Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix, but Linden also has its fair share of famous talents. Most notably from Linden are musicians Don Henley and T-Bone Walker. For a big city musician, small town life offers its own perks. A quiet life and the chance to spread their wings and try new ventures.

After 25 years of the hustle and bustle of life in Seattle, Washington, or more specifically, Bellingham, Washington, Jordan and his wife, Jacqueline made the decision to move to Linden.

While they still tour with their band, playing gigs all oss the country, they were yearning for something else to fill the space between tours and supplement their musical income.

The couple love to cook and decided to combine that with their love of music. That is how My Creole Belle was born. The cottage

industry business

takes its name from

a song of the same

name by Mississippi John Hurt.

Located just down from the Post Office, My Creole Belle is a wonderful nod to southern, small town life and farm stands. They work on an honor system, wherein customers come up, pick what they want, drop their payment in a jar, and

enjoy a delicious snack or lunch. This system works well for the couple as they are currently renovating their house so they can move in and enjoy the amenities of it.

Each item is homemade using organic and all natural ingredients whenever possible. Menu items include hand pies, cookies, and even their own style of Texas Creole pralines.

My Creole Belle will be open for Pop Up Week and their hours, as of now, are Sunday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Stop by and visit them at 236 E. Rush St. in Linden, just past the Post Office.
