Local author publishes book
Kimberly Strong, a Linden-Kildare graduate and the 2001 Miss Linden recipient recently published her first book. Strong, who is the daughter of Larry and Beverly Young of Linden, TX, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Prairie View A&M University.
Her book, Speaks It Until She Believes It, is a children’s book that helps children find their inner strength and resilience as challenges emerge while also teaching them how to create daily affirmations to empower them with confidence, bravery, and intelligence.
Strong has mentored and helped mold the minds of countless young students’ boys and girls as an educator in the Houston, Texas area. Once becoming a mother, she witnessed the importance of reading and having books that her kids could connect to. As a child, Strong always gravitated to books with characters that looked like her and was surprised to find the shortage of books that depicted African American children in 2021. Combining her experiences of teaching and motherhood, Strong created a mission to develop enjoyable children’s books that teach valuable lessons and write her first book. Strong advanced her mission with the creation of PEAK League Press which is dedicated to producing work that exposes young black boys and girls to ideas and concepts that help them find their inner strength and resilience.
