Jeremiah Bobo Family

Jeremiah Bobo was bora 13 November 1816 in Cross Keys, Union County, South Carolina. Jeremiah was married three times, (1) Sarah White 28 Octoberl841. She was born ca 1816 in Union County, South Carolina. She died in S. C. and is buried in an Unknown location. He married (2)Hester White before 1846, daughter of Elias White and Annie Gibbs. She was born 07 October 1824 in Union County, South Carolina and died before 1857 in Texas. She is believed to be buried in Creed Cemetery, Redwater, Bowie County, Texas. We are unsure how many of the four children go with each of the first two wives. He married (3) Abigail Hancock 17 February 1857 in Cass County, Texas. There were no children by the third wife.

Jeremiah and Hester came to Texas about 1846. They lived in Bowie County but later moved to Cass County to raise their family. Jeremiah and family could not be found on the 1850 census but was listed on the 1860 census with third wife (Abigail) and his children less the oldest daughter. At that time, he was a grocery keeper in the Unionville and Cusseta area. It seems that he and family moved around.

A letter in 1969 from Gene Boney, Eastland, Texas to Elzer Bobo, Queen City, Texas states that the Bobo’s, Kitchen’s and Boney’s departed northeast Texas to Bell County, Texas in the mid 1860’s. Jeremiah died ca 1869 and is believed to be buried in Bell County. Abigail is back in Cass County living with her brother on the 1870 census. We don’t know when Abigail died or where she is buried. Jeremiah’s youngest son, John Lewis was living with sister Laura Jane on the 1870 census in Bell County. Jeremiah and Sarah WHITE Bobo were parents of:

1. Laura Jane was born 23 February 1843 in Union County, South Carolina. She moved to Texas when she was only 3 years old. She married William Wallace Trimble 1860 in Cass County, Texas. They move to Bell County Texas ca 1866 and then to Hamilton County 1870’s. Laura and William had at least four children, James R., Eliza Callie, Mary Ellen, and Joseph Wyatt Trimble, all married and died in Hamilton County, Texas. Laura Jane died about 1880 and William died 14 Dec 1921 and both or buried in Pottsville Cemetery, Hamilton, Texas.

2. James William was born 29 December 1844 in Union County, South Carolina. Mother could be Hester WHITE Bobo. A son of James, William Richard Bobo named a daughter Hester A. “Nettie” Bobo.

Jeremiah and Hester “WHITE” Bobo were parents of:

1. Martha Caroline “Mattie” was born 24 July 1848 in Bowie County, Texas. She died 10 December 1882 and is buried in Creed Cemetery in Redwater, Texas. She married Francis Edgar McCloskey 07 July 1868. He was born 01 November 1851. He died August 1895 and is buried in Redwater Cemetery. They had five children: James, Grace, Louis, Marion, and Elizabeth McCloskey.

2. John Lewis (Louis) was born 26 September 1852 in Texas. John lived in Cass County until he was about fifteen when he went to Bell County with his family. There he married his first cousin, Sarah A. F. Boney in 1870. Sarah was born in Arkansas 21 November 1848. They had at least five children, Bertie, Susan, Mattie, James William, and Hester Bobo. John died 09 January 1916 and Sarah 22 February 1929 in Comanche County, Texas and is buried in the Proctor Cemetery.

JAMES WILLIAM BOBO FAMILY

James William Bobo was born 29 December 1844 in Union County, South Carolina and move to Texas when he was about one year old. He married Parmelia Angelina Trimble 24 April 1864. Parmelia was born to Richard S. and Melissa LANGSTON Trimble on 19 April 1844 in St. Francis County, Arkansas. She came to Texas with her family in 1852. J.W. and P.A. was married in the Floyd Hill Community. Later they move to the Knights Bluff Community. James William was appointed with others by the County Commissioners to work on some of the county roads in the Knights Bluff area.

J. W. served in the Confederate States Army for a brief time in 1864 and 65. As far as we know he never left Texas while in the army. His grave is marked with a CSA marker.

James William and Parmelia were members of the Floyd Hill Church and later the Enon Primitive Baptist Church. The church stood near the Old Liberty Cemetery in the Knights Bluff Community.

After James William’s death, Parmelia live with her children until her youngest son bought the Knights Bluff School building and fixed it for her to live in behind his home at Knights Bluff.

James died 29 September 1903 and Parmelia Angelina Bobo died 02 March 1930 and they are buried in Antioch Cemetery. James William and Parmelia Angelina Bobo were parents of: ,

1. Belle Carolyn was born 27 March 1865 and died 27 March 1902. She married Simon Robert “Bud” Griffin 07 Dec 1881. Their Children were, Ernest, George, Archie, Author, Maggie, Susie, Careil, William, Dessie and Dollie.

2. Mary Mamie was born 24 February 1868 and died 02 May 1900. She married John Michael Griffin 08 June 1886. He was born 29 January 1868 and died 30 October 1941. They are buried in Old Liberty Cemetery. Their children were Nora Bell, Rosie Lee, Billy, Franklyn, Rufus, and Chester.

3. Laura Sarah was born 02 February 1870 and died 15 October 1895. She married Will M. Adams 12 December 1889. He was born ca 1870. There are no known children to this marriage.

4. William Richard “Buddy” was born 08 March 1872 and died 01 February 1945. He married Mollie TURNER 16 March 1897.

5. Mattie Luella was born 27 January 1874 and died 09 July 1959 at Redwater, Bowie County, Texas. She married Daniel Cooper Cole 19 June 1890. He was born 19 July 1863 and died 10 September 1915. They are both buried in Redwater Cemetery. Their children were: Culberson Clifton, Angie, Era, Floyd, Adie, lone, James, Opal, Morris, and Lela Luella.

6. Ada was born 27 August 1876 and died 28 September 1936. She married John Daniel Endsley 03 August 1893. He was born 25 July 1869 and died 07 April 1954. They are buried at Bethsaida Cemetery. Their children were: William, Ruthie, Preston Estel, Ina Pearl, Henry and Vadar.

7. Willie was born 01 November 1878 and died 26 April 1943. She married Robert Luther Plum 6 September 1898. He was born 16 November 1871 and died 26 November 1934. They are buried in the Courtland Cemetery. Their children were Annie Angeline, Clarence, Rosa, Jennie, Graden and Cranford.

8. Jennie was born 04 January 1881 and died 23 January 1949. She married Charlie Plum 04 November 1900. He was born ca 1867 and died 24 Aug. 1947. They had one son, Ross G. born 20 Oct 1904 and died 21 March 1926. They are buried in Old Liberty Cemetery.

9. Robert Preston O’Neal was born 28 February 1883 and died 09 June 1967. He married Maudie Mae Rutherford 06 February 1904. She was born 8 July 1888 and Died 23 December 1967. They are buried in the Antioch Cemetery. Their children were: Edna, Ervin, Daisy, Earlene, and Sylvia.

10. Susie Malissa was born 24 December 1885 and died 15 December 1965. She married (1) George H. Plum 04 September 1904. He died October 1908. She married (2) John L. Finleycal911.
