Cullen Baker Fair quilting event
The quilting event at all 46 of the Cullen Baker Fairs has been and remains one of the most popular parts of this day in Bloomburg. In the beginning there were quilting groups in Arkansas as well as Texas.
They both furnished a large amount of quilts to spice up the day. Some were bid on while others were given away as prizes.
Finally, there was a drawing. For a $1 ticket, you could have your name put in the container for the drawing at the end of the fair day. Some winners have been local people while others were people no one knew but who were visiting the fair.
Sometimes people bought a handful of tickets in the hopes that would increase their chance to win. Others have won a gorgeous quilt on one ticket purchase.
This year the quilting event will continue. For a dollar, you can buy a ticket for the quilt drawing. Even if you don’t win, you’ve done something good.
The money goes to help build a children’s park for this small town.
