Bickham’s precision is enough to make Robin Hood quiver
Elizabeth Bickham has been on a tear since November of last year.
Bickham took part in the Shoot Your Way Across the Bayou (SYWAB) contest which is held throughout the fall/winter season.
Shooters must shoot three tournaments before the championship, which is held in different locations throughout Louisiana each year.
Archers from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama compete in this contest.
Bickham competed in the Middle School Female Genesis category, and shot four practice tournaments where the top 3 scores count.
Nov. 11-15, 2020 she placed first at the Red River Bowmen Archery Club in Shreveport with a score of 260, Nov. 20-21, 2020 she placed first at the Slingin’ Arrows event in El Dorado with a score of 253, Jan. 8-10, 2021 she placed first at the Red River Bowmen Archery Club in Shreveport with a score of 261 and Jan. 15-16, 2021 she placed first at the Slingin’ Arrows event in El Dorado with a score of 267.
There were two tournaments put on by Louisiana Field Archery.
The Championship tournament was held Jan. 22-23 at Gotham Archery in Central, La., where Bickham shot a 268, for a combined score of 1056 for the four tournaments.
The second-place finisher in her division posted a score of 766. Bickham beat all the Genesis competitors in all categories (male/female - elementary/middle/ high schools).
She next competed in the Louisiana Field Archery Association (LFAA) Vegas Indoor State Championship the weekend of Jan. 23-24 in Central, La.
Bickham shot a 268 in the first round and a 257 in the second round for a combined score of 525, to win the State Championship.
Bickham beat all other Genesis competitors to win the title, and sealed up back-to-back championships in this tournament.
Bickham is the daughter of Jake and Amanda Bickham of Douglassville.
