Atlanta’s Fall Makers Market
The weather was perfect – slightly chilly but sunny – Saturday, Oct. 17, for the Fall Makers Market. Vendors filled Wood’s Park and overflowed to line the Hiram Street sidewalks in front of the old State Theatre.
Local crafters, cooks and vendors set up their booths with homemade, handmade and homegrown merchandise ranging from antique furniture to windchimes. Everything was made within a 50-mile radius of Atlanta.
Most parking spots in town were full during the event hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. as people took advantage of the weather to shop for unique items that can’t be found in stores. The cheerful atmosphere was a sharp contrast to the pandemic and election woes that have dominated 2020 thus far.
By the end of the five-hour event, many vendors had sold out of most items. “Everything you see right here is already sold,” said vendor Curtis Easley said of his unique yard art. “They pay for it and leave it here to get when they leave.”
The next Makers Market will be held in the Spring, giving our talented vendors plenty of time to restock.
