“This is one of the easiest 4-H Projects, yet one of the coolest one because it can be used to highlight or display your other 4-H Projects. More than one career can also be developed from this project such as a Product Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Freelance Photographer, Photo Editor, Camera Operator, X-Ray Photographer, YouTuber, Videographer, Graphic Designer, Graphic Artist, etc.”
Prairie View A&M will host the Zoom Essential Elements of 4-H Virtual Volunteer Training Class on December 7 and 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm. The purpose of the class is to help youth development professionals understand the importance of positive development by presenting the 4-H Essential Elements as central to helping youth become competent and contributing adults. The curriculum provides a wealth of resources to 1) engage youth development professionals (4-H agents/ educators/volunteers) in building the capacity of volunteers, and 2) perpetuate the Essential Elements in programs. If you have attended this training in the past, it would be great to refresh your memory! Call 903-756-5391 or visit their Facebook page for more information,
The 2021 Texas 4-H Foundation Opportunity Scholarship applications will open on November 2nd. There are a few updates to this year’s application. Due to COVID-19, many testing sites have been closed and seniors are having difficulty getting in to take the SAT/ACT exams. This year, we will be waiving the requirement for these exams. Applicants will not be asked to provide a score. Get updated guidelines by going to https://cass4h.blogspot.com. The score that was previously given for this requirement will be disbursed to other sections of the application.
Another change was made to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo financial aid cap. Previously, one would not be eligible for the HLSR scholarship if they accepted more than $90,000 in financial aid and scholarships. They have increased this cap to $110,000.
Nothing else has changed to the application or process! All updates and resources are available at texas4hfoundation.org on the Scholarship page. The extension office anticipates a large pool of applicants this year and wishes everyone the best of luck.
