Texas History Minute

When the United States became independent in 1776, Texas was far from the scene. However, one of the key figures of that era, Benjamin Franklin, still had an impact on Texas and its own independence decades later. Richard Bache, Jr., Franklin’s grandson, fought in the Texas Revolution, served in the Texas navy, and served in the first sessions of the Texas State Senate.

With springtime, Texans turn watchful eyes to the sky for rising storm clouds or sudden shifts in winds. Thought tornadoes have occurred in all 50 states, Texas is part of the notorious “Tornado Alley” where the often-volatile mix of cool, dry air from the Rocky Mountains mixes with the warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico most commonly meet on the Great Plains to produce the violent storms.

Moran introduces bill to sanction individuals involved with fentanyl crisis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) released a statement following the introduction of legislation that would direct the President to annually publish a list of Mexican individuals directly or indirectly involved with the manufacturing, distribution, or transfer of illicit Fentanyl. Following the publishing of this list, the President shall impose sanctions on these individuals.

Texas History Minute

The 1950s and 1960s introduced Americans to television and riveted audiences with tales of the frontier. One of the most noted actors of the era was Texan Fess Parker. He became one of the most popular actors of the time, giving life to legendary American figures such as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone in his portrayals.
